Another AGM is in the books and as usual it was well attended, and another great success. The meeting went smoothly and the social events were entertaining. The seminars were also well attended, interesting and informative or so I was told. I was either travelling or tied up with the Environmental Committee doing an assessment of the effects of development on the northern forest so I missed the seminars. I did notice some logistical problems mostly of my own making, someone put the hospitality cabin between the functions venue and my accommodations which caused some late evening diversions. The good news is that there was a vast wealth of intellectual conversation taking place at those late evening gatherings, or so it seemed at the time. I really enjoy the AGM  and look forward to next year’s because it’s a great time to get together with the friends we’ve made over the years as well as a chance to meet the new members and students.

With the influx of new members it seems there is a lineup of people wanting to serve on the executive of the Association and elections will become the norm. Council has requested that we include a request for ballot box. Council was hoping to get something made by one of the members. Anyone with any ideas and creative ability please let Carla know that you will be supplying a ballot box for the next AGM.

I notice that there are a lot of active members that do not have a biography on the permanent register. If you are one of them please make an effort to prepare one and send it to Carla along with a picture of yourself. It may also help Carla if you let her know who you articled to as there is a link back to your “master”. This is and will continue to be a great historical record of the membership so again please make an effort to keep it current.

Hopefully the warm weather we are enjoying now hangs around for a few months and everyone has a great summer.

Submissions to the news letter by any member are welcome, please send them in. We still need photos for the cover page so if you have any send them to Carla or me along with a brief note about them.
